President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb spoke over the phone with President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday 22 August 2024.
The presidents had an in-depth discussion on the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. They also discussed the role of the UN and global challenges such as climate change. Brazil will host the COP30 climate conference in 2025. The presidents shared similar views on the need to strengthen and reform global governance institutions.
President Stubb stressed the importance of the countries in the global South in addressing common challenges and finding solutions to crises.
