President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb will travel to India on a state visit on 4–7 March 2026.
President Stubb will meet President of India Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, along with other representatives of the state leadership on Thursday 5 March in New Delhi. The discussions will address the transformation of international politics and multilateral cooperation, the bilateral relations between Finland and India, the relations between India and Europe, commercial and economic cooperation, regional issues in Asia, as well as Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.
On Thursday 5 March, President Stubb will also participate as the guest of honour in the Raisina Dialogue 2026, a conference focusing on geopolitics and geoeconomics. President Stubb will deliver the inaugural address of the conference and participate in a panel discussion the following day. The conference is organized by the think tank Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
In connection with the conference, the President will meet young experts from various fields participating in the Raisina Young Fellows Programme.
During his stay in New Delhi, the President of the Republic will lay a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial.
The programme will then continue in Mumbai. On Saturday morning 7 March, the President will visit the University of Mumbai, where he will meet with students and deliver a speech on multilateral cooperation in the age of fragmentation.
In the afternoon, President Stubb will take part in the Finland–India Business Dialogue, an event focusing on infrastructure and industry, skills development, and the deepening of economic relations between India and Finland. During his visit to India, the President will also meet with local business leaders.
President Stubb will be accompanied on the state visit by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala, Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with India Timo Harakka, Mayor of the City of Espoo Kai Mykkänen and a business delegation with representatives from Elematic, Versowood, KONE, Nokia, Metso, Wärtsilä, Kempower, Kalmar, Kaune, ICEYE, ReOrbit, Algol, Betolar, UPM, Neste, Lindström, Oy Karl Fazer Ab, Bolt.Works and Kaiku.
In 2014, former President Sauli Niinistö and his spouse Jenni Haukio hosted former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, accompanied by his daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee, on a state visit to Finland. The most recent state visit from Finland to India was made by President Martti Ahtisaari in 1996.
