President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb visited the town of Parainen in the southwest of Finland on Tuesday 18 August 2026.
The programme featured a roundtable lunch discussion on the natural environment of the Archipelago Sea, followed by a visit to Brava Learning Centre, a shared campus for lower and upper secondary schools and vocational education providers.
“This was a chance for me to hear from academics and other experts about the current state of the Archipelago Sea, and from representatives of the Baltic Sea Action Group and the John Nurminen Foundation about the action being taken to protect it. I am pleased to see the efforts being made for a cleaner environment,” said the President.
The visit culminated in a public event in Parainen Central Park, where the President met with members of the local community.
The President of the Republic was welcomed in Parainen by Town Manager Tom Simola and Head of Communication Linda Baarman.
At the Brava Campus, the President visited the beauty therapy department, where students told him about their course and carried out practical training exercises.
The President also met construction students at Brava Learning Centre.
Following a tour of the facilities, the President answered questions from the students, who wanted to know what makes him proud of Finland. They were also keen to hear his views on the country’s future, and asked the President for advice on the choices and opportunities that lie ahead.
The public event in Parainen Central Park also included a performance by young local dancers.
