President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb participated in an Entrepreneurship Day for young entrepreneurs in Stockholm on Monday 7 September 2026. The event was organised by Prince Daniel’s Fellowship and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
Speaking at the beginning of the event, President Stubb addressed the new geopolitical situation and its implications for Europe, the Nordic countries and small, technology-driven democracies. The President then joined a panel discussion on European competitiveness and the role that innovation, entrepreneurship and Nordic cooperation play in enhancing it. The panel was moderated by futurist, entrepreneur and influencer Märtha Rehnberg.
“Finland and Sweden must build partnerships across the world. Europe’s success is crucial to our success. That is why we must work together,” said President Stubb.
The President concluded his remarks by recognising the vital role entrepreneurs play in building our future and defining the values on which it is based.
Prince Daniel’s Fellowship Entrepreneurship Day was first held in 2013. The event is designed to inspire young people to become entrepreneurs and to support aspiring young business owners in developing their skills and building professional networks.
During his visit to Stockholm, President Stubb also attended a side event held in connection with Nordic Tech Week 2026. The President took part in a discussion on global technological competition and the position of Europe and the Nordic countries in the current geopolitical landscape.
As part of the discussion, the President highlighted the unique ecosystem of emerging technologies and start-ups that has developed in Finland and Sweden. Cooperation that builds on the strengths of our two countries will play a central role in addressing Europe’s competitiveness challenges and the productivity crisis facing European industry, the President noted.
