On Monday 27 April 2026, President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb attended the National Veterans’ Day main event in Mikkeli. The festive event, held at the Mikaeli Concert and Congress Hall, honoured 13 representatives of the war generation as guests of honour.
The programme featured musical performances by various ensembles as well as an address by war veteran Viljo Pastila. The theme of the commemoration was Facing the future together.
Prior to the main event, President Stubb and Mrs Innes-Stubb participated in a luncheon, where they had the opportunity to meet and talk with veterans and members of the Lotta Svärd organisation.
