Presidential couple receives May Day greetings

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb received May Day greetings in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace in Helsinki on Thursday 1 May 2025.

The event began with the reception of the Mayflower charity pin, presented by school children representing Folkhälsan, a non-profit organisation working for better health and quality of life.

President Stubb and Mrs Innes-Stubb were then greeted by the Finnish Workers’ Music Federation and a joint performance by the Ikaalisten Nuoriso-orkesteri youth orchestra and the Hämeenkyrön Puhallica wind band.

The open-air event ended with a greeting from the Student Union of the University of Helsinki, the choir Akademiska Sångföreningen and the YL Male Voice Choir.

As the event continued in the Presidential Palace, students from Aalto University presented the President and his spouse with a copy of Wappulehti Äpy, the May Day comic magazine published by the university’s student union.
