This year’s NATO Summit was held in Ankara, Türkiye, on 7–8 July 2026.
The focus of the summit was on monitoring the implementation of the defence spending commitment agreed at last year’s summit in The Hague, strengthening the European defence industry, and supporting Ukraine. The summit underscored the commitment of the European Allies to assume greater responsibility for the security of the continent.
“Europe is already taking greater responsibility for its own security. Developing defence capabilities is a long-term undertaking, but the results are already visible,” President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb said.
The Finnish summit delegation, led by President Stubb, included Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen.
